VUL IS NOT A SCAM, BUT IT IS USUALLY NOT THE BEST RETIREMENT FUND.
For context, VUL is a legitimate insurance product with an investment component, but the investment risk is still borne by the policyholder, and VUL policies commonly have insurance, administrative, fund management, and surrender-related charges that can reduce returns.
Wala akong personal na galit sa insurance companies or insurance agents. Insurance is important.

But let us be clear:
VUL is first and foremost an insurance product — not a pure retirement fund.
Yes, may investment component siya. Yes, may fund value siya. Yes, puwede itong lumago over time.
Part of your premium goes to insurance charges, admin charges, policy fees, fund management fees, and other possible charges.
Remember: compounding works best when more money stays invested for a long time.
Pang-apat, habang tumatanda ka, insurance cost can become heavier.
But the truth is, market-linked pa rin ang investment component. Puwedeng tumaas. Puwede ring bumaba.
Pang-anim, may surrender charges or penalties lalo na sa early years.
This reduces flexibility compared to investing directly.
Pangpito, insurance need and retirement need are two different goals.
Buy enough insurance for protection.
Then invest separately and directly for retirement.
Ano ang required rate of return mo?
Do not buy a product just because maganda ang presentation.
Know your numbers first.
Insurance is protection.
Investment is wealth building.
Retirement planning is strategy.
