“Start now. Start small.

“Start now. Start small.

Maganda pakinggan. Motivating. Simple. Easy to understand.

Kasi kung ang advice lang ay “start now and start small” pero walang computation, walang target retirement fund, walang required monthly investment, at walang realistic expected return, then that advice is incomplete.

You are 30 years old and plan to retire at 60. That gives you 30 years to build your fund.

Based sa table:

Dividend Investing

Expected return: 7%

Required monthly investment: around ₱20,492/month

S&P 500

Expected return: 10%

Required monthly investment: around ₱11,060/month

Individual Growth Stocks

Expected return: 15%

Required monthly investment: around ₱3,611/month

Malaking difference, di ba?

Kaya huwag basta nagpapaniwala sa mga dividend influencers na ang key to reaching your goal is simply to “start now and start small.”

For most beginners, S&P 500 investing is easier to learn compared to individual stock picking. Hindi mo kailangang maging expert agad. You can start with broad market investing while learning deeper strategies.

Dividend investing may risk.

S&P 500 investing may risk.

Individual growth stocks may risk.

So ask yourself:

Would you rather invest a much bigger amount every month because your chosen strategy grows slower?

Or would you rather invest first in proper education so you can learn a strategy that gives you a better chance of reaching your retirement goal with a lower required monthly investment?

Hindi sapat na “start now and start small.”

Dapat ang mindset ay:

Start now. Know your numbers. Choose the right strategy. Adjust your plan. Stay consistent.

Because retirement planning is not just about investing.

It is about matching your goal, time horizon, monthly capacity, and strategy.
